WORKING FOR THE SAME PURPOSE

1 Corinthians 3:6
(KJV) I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase.

Sometimes, working together may not necessarily mean having to work in the same manner, but rather to work for the same goal.

From our opening verse, Paul planted, and Apollos watered. Now, notice that the process of planting has basically no similarity to the process of watering; except in purpose. Ponder…

The planter plants in hope that the seed should grow to maturity, and the one who waters, does so for the same purpose.

So, even though we may “labour” in completely different ways doing the work of God, if we have a common purpose, God will bring the increase to it Himself.

The purpose of all works of ministry should be to present every man perfect in the light of the finished works of Christ. Nothing more.

So, no matter how you do it, it should end with man perfect in Christ. For if it ends with man condemned or uncertain, then it was never the work of ministry in the first place.

Ministry is all about working for the common purpose of presenting all men perfect in Christ, and exalting the finished works of Christ.

So, whatever you are doing in the vineyard of the Lord, whether you are “planting”, “watering”, or even “weeding”; as long as the purpose remains the same, I pray that God should bring the increase to it, in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen
