Today’s Devotional…
The chaos that overwhelmed the entire world of men, came through the disobedience of one man (the first man) Adam. That disobedience brought sin to all men, and that sin reigned over mankind unto death.
God warned Adam not to eat of the tree in the middle of the garden, lest he die. However, he disobeyed and ate but was not willing to die. Many years later, Jesus who didn’t disobey God in any way, came in obedience to die the death of Adam. Ponder…
It is written in Romans 5:19: “For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous”
As seen in our opening verse and the verse above, Jesus obeyed God to die a shameful death on the cross, even when He had not offended God in any way. But Jesus had a hidden motivation when He undertook this critical mission of the cross.
Hebrews 12:2 reveals that Jesus, for the joy that was set before him, endured the cross, despising its shame. But what was this joy that was set before Him? It was the joy of seeing the salvation of the entire world!
Yes, the disobedience of Adam plunged the world into sin which empowered death, meanwhile, the obedience of Jesus (the second and last Adam), redeemed the world from the bondage of sin unto righteousness, which empowers ETERNAL LIFE!
May this mystery of the ultimate obedience of Christ which brought the light of righteousness to the whole world be revealed to you with all clarity, in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen
