Many of us have, at some point, prayed the famous “Our Lord’s Prayer” and somewhere therein, mentioned that “Thy kingdom come.” But did we ever question what that really meant?
What Jesus meant when He taught His disciples to ask for the coming of God’s kingdom, was for them to ask for the coming of righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost, which was already by the corner! Abba Father!
For how else could the kingdom of God have come within men according to Jesus Christ in Luke 17:21 except that His righteousness would fill men with peace and joy in the Holy Ghost? Ponderโฆ
The kingdom of God does not come through religious practices and Christian rituals. Jesus Christ brought the kingdom of God upon all men when He took away their sin and gave them His righteousness as an eternal gift.
What naturally happens to a man who understands that the sin he has struggled with all his life has been substituted by righteousness, is PEACE and JOY in the Holy Ghost. That is just natural. Therefore, the focus should be on Christ, rather than religious beliefs and works.
Apostle Paul advises us in Hebrews 13:9 in the same light: “Be not carried about with divers and strange doctrines. For it is a good thing that the heart be established with grace; not with meats, which have not profited them that have been occupied therein.”
May the eyes of your understanding be enlightened to see God’s kingdom in every man, in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen
