Today’s Devotional…

To be born again, simply means to be born a second time. But this is biologically impossible. So, Nicodemus was not resisting the teaching. Rather, Jesus was not just making sense.

Jesus was talking about two instances of spiritual birth, none of which Nicodemus had even the slightest clue.

Nicodemus did not understand what it meant to be born again because he assumed that the first birth in Jesus’ statement was one from his mother.

No, Jesus was not talking about physical birth but spiritual. Nicodemus did not even know about the first spiritual birth, how would he understand the second?

This mystery of “born again” which has been misinterpreted by the Pentecostal wing of the church today is revealed in 1Peter 1:23

It reads: “Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever”

So, to understand what it means to be born again (that is of the incorruptible seed), you must first of all find out what it means to be born in the first place, (of the corruptible seed)

The corruptible seed was Adam who indeed later got corrupted by sin, and the incorruptible seed is Christ who cannot sin, and whose righteousness is forever.

So, by “born again”, Jesus was referring to the second birth of mankind from the incorruptible Christ.

“Born again” is not an individual experience. It was the redesigning and recreation of all sinful mankind (Adam) to appear eternally without sin – that is Christ (in whom we live today)

Anyone who did not live before the cross cannot be born again, because they never experienced the first life, which was the corruptible life of Adam.

If you live after the cross, you live in Christ; and the only life you know is the incorruptible life which Christ gifted all mankind in His resurrection.

You were born once in Christ, and you cannot be born again; neither is there even a need for another birth. Ponder…

May the eyes of your understanding be enlightened, in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen
